Cybersecurity Analyst Program FAQs

The Fortray Cyber Security Analyst Bootcamp is designed for individuals who want to build a professional career in cyber security, specifically as a Cyber Security Analyst or SOC Analyst, and already have a basic IT background. It is ideal for candidates who have completed a Diploma or Degree in IT or have at least 1+ year of IT work experience and are now ready to move into more specialised cyber security careers. Whether you are progressing from IT support, networking, or system administration, or looking for an IT career switch into cyber security, this programme provides a complete, job-focused pathway into entry-level cyber security careers with UK-based job placement support.

Unlike some beginner level bootcamps, this programme has clear entry requirements to ensure you are ready for the training level. You must meet at least one of the following:

  • A Diploma or Degree in IT (or a closely related field)
  • 1+ year of professional IT experience in roles such as IT Support, Service Desk, Networking, Systems Administration, or similar

These prerequisites ensure you have the foundational technical understanding needed to get the most from modules like CompTIA A+, Network+, and Security+, and to transition effectively into a cyber security analyst or SOC analyst role in the UK job market.

No prior cyber security experience is required, but you do need an IT foundation (as described in the prerequisites). The curriculum starts by revisiting IT fundamentals and networking basics, then builds up to Introduction to Cybersecurity, ISE2 CC, and CompTIA Security+, so you can progress from general IT to focused cyber security training and placement support.

Yes. You must be at least 18 years old to join the Cyber Security Analyst Bootcamp. Learners under 18 may only enrol if a parent or legal guardian completes the application and provides consent to ensure legal compliance and suitability for professional-level training and employment.

Yes, international students are welcome to join the training element of the programme. Fortray works with students from different countries who want to get into cyber security and develop technology related careers through flexible job training programs online. However, eligibility for UK based job placement support is dependent on your right to work in the UK (see the next question).

To be eligible for the UK bootcamp route, non UK nationals must already have valid work authorisation for full time employment in the United Kingdom at the time of placement. This ensures you can fully participate in the UK job placement support process, attend interviews with UK employers, and accept offers without restrictions.

If you do not currently hold unrestricted work rights in the UK, you are still welcome to join the programme for training, mentorship, and skills development; however, you will not qualify for the UK job search support pathway.

All Fortray programmes, including the Cyber Security Analyst Bootcamp, are delivered in English. You will need a strong level of written and spoken English to understand the course content, participate in live online classes, complete hands on labs, and perform successfully in interviews for cyber security jobs and SOC analyst positions in the UK and internationally.

You must have either a recognised IT qualification (Diploma/Degree) or 1+ year of IT experience. If you hold an IT degree but limited hands on experience, the programme will help you translate your theoretical knowledge into practical skills. If you have 1+ year of IT work experience but no degree, your hands on background will support your transition into cyber security careers.

This programme is a strong fit if you:

  • Have a Diploma/Degree in IT or 1+ years of IT experience
  • Want to move into Cyber Security Analyst or SOC Analyst roles
  • Are interested in threat detection, incident response, log analysis, SIEM tools, and security monitoring
  • Are looking for bootcamp in the UK that focus on cyber security training and placement support.

If this matches your goals and you want a clear career path in cybersecurity with UK-focused job placement support, this bootcamp is likely the right choice.

You can contact the Fortray Career Development Team at info@fortray.com or through the Contact Us page on the Fortray website. Our advisors specialise in supporting people who are looking for a career change, exploring a career in cyber security, and comparing IT career courses and courses with job search support to choose the most suitable route into entry level cyber security careers.

Completing this bootcamp gives you a strong platform for long term growth in cyber security careers. Many graduates begin in roles such as Cyber Security Analyst, SOC Analyst (Level 1/2), Information Security Analyst, or Security Operations Analyst. As you gain more experience and advanced certifications, you can progress into roles such as Senior Cyber Security Analyst, Incident Response Lead, Security Engineer, Security Consultant, or Security Manager. The programme forms a core part of Fortray's broader IT career switch ecosystem into sustainable information technology careers within cyber security.

After completing the bootcamp and gaining experience in analyst or SOC roles, Fortray recommends pursuing advanced, globally recognised certifications to increase your seniority and earning potential, such as:

CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional)

CCSP (Certified Cloud Security Professional)

CISM (Certified Information Security Manager)

These certifications build on your CompTIA Security+ foundation and help move your profile towards senior security analyst, security architect, and management positions across the UK and globally.

Yes. As part of Fortray's long term Career Growth model, once you have secured your first role as a Cyber Security Analyst or SOC Analyst, you will receive mentorship and personalised advice on when to pursue CISSP, CCSP, CISM, or other specialist certifications, based on your job responsibilities, interests, and long term goals in your career path in cybersecurity.

The Cyber Security Analyst Bootcamp is not just a generic IT course. It is specifically focused on cyber security, including CompTIA Security+, Introduction to Cybersecurity, and ISE2 CC, together with foundational modules (ITF, A+, Network+). You will build skills in analysing security events, identifying threats, and supporting incident response—core tasks in cyber security analyst and SOC roles—rather than remaining in general IT support positions.

Yes. Fortray's philosophy is that your first job is the starting point of your career in tech, not the end. Depending on your chosen path, you may receive guidance and access to advanced training aligned with CISSP, CCSP, and CISM, and broader cloud or security engineering pathways.

Advanced certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, and CISM, combined with real world SOC or analyst experience, significantly enhance your profile for leadership and senior technical roles. They typically lead to higher salary bands, greater responsibility, and stronger long term progression prospects across the UK cyber security job market.

Career planning begins during your training and continues continues through your job search support stage. From early in the programme, you will be encouraged to think about your long term career path in cybersecurity, and once you progress into your first relevant role, your mentor will help you explore suitable certification and skill development options for your future career growth.

The Fortray Cyber Security Analyst Bootcamp is part of Fortray's bootcamp courses portfolio. It combines structured training, live instructor led sessions, hands on labs, CompTIA Security+ exam preparation, and targeted job placement support in the UK. If you meet all programme requirements, complete the training, pass the required exam, and actively participate in the job search support process, and still do not secure a qualifying UK cyber security role within the agreed timeframe, you may be eligible for a refund in line with the bootcamp programme Terms & Conditions. This makes it an attractive choice if you are seeking courses with bootcamp or IT courses with bootcamp in the UK focused on cybersecurity.

Graduates typically move into roles such as:

  • Cyber Security Analyst
  • SOC Analyst (Level 1/Level 2)
  • Information Security Analyst
  • IT Security Analyst
  • Security Operations Analyst

These roles are in demand across many industries in the UK, and they represent genuine technology related careers with clear progression into senior cyber security and security engineering positions.

As part of the programme requirements, learners must successfully achieve the CompTIA Security+ certification to access the full range of employment support services available under the programme. This industry-recognised credential demonstrates core cyber security knowledge and is highly regarded by employers seeking candidates for entry-level cyber security positions.

No. Exam fees or vouchers are not included in this particular programme. You will receive full training, exam preparation, and mentorship for Security+, but you will be responsible for booking and paying for your own exam attempt(s) at an authorised testing centre or online proctoring service.

CompTIA Security+ is a widely recognised, vendor-neutral cyber security certification that demonstrates foundational knowledge of security principles, risk management, networks, and threat mitigation. Many employers recruiting for junior cyber security and SOC-related roles value Security+ as evidence of relevant technical knowledge. Combined with practical training, hands-on lab experience, and transferable skills, achieving Security+ may help strengthen your profile when applying for cyber security opportunities.

You typically start the full job search support process once you have:

  • Completed the core training modules (ITF, A+, Network+, Intro to Cybersecurity, ISE2 CC, Security+)
  • Successfully passed the CompTIA Security+ exam

At this stage, the recruitment specialists will support you with CV optimisation, LinkedIn profile branding, interview preparation, and targeted Job search support for cyber security jobs and SOC analyst roles in the UK.

As part of the programme, learners receive tailored career development and employment support designed to help them prepare for opportunities in the cyber security sector. This may include:

  • CV and LinkedIn profile optimisation tailored to cyber security roles
  • Interview preparation and coaching, including technical and behavioural interview techniques
  • Guidance on showcasing hands-on projects, lab work, and technical skills
  • Support with job search strategies and identifying relevant cyber security opportunities
  • Assistance with job applications and professional networking within the industry

Our aim is to help learners develop the skills, confidence, and professional profile needed to pursue entry-level cyber security opportunities. Employment outcomes are not guaranteed and will depend on individual circumstances, experience, effort, and market conditions.

While salaries can vary, the average UK salary for a Cyber Security Analyst is around £45,000 per year, with typical entry level roles ranging from approximately £35,000 to £50,000, depending on your location, company, and previous experience. With more experience and advanced certifications (such as CISSP, CCSP, CISM), many professionals progress to significantly higher salary bands.

Yes. All Fortray job search support courses in the UK are backed by a legally binding electronic agreement. This document sets out the eligibility requirements, learner commitments, the support services provided by Fortray, and any applicable refund terms. We believe in transparency, so all programme requirements and conditions are clearly explained from the outset.

The programme is most effective when learners actively participate in both the training and career support elements. To remain eligible for employment support services and the Tuition Money-Back Guarantee, learners are expected to:

  • Complete the required training and assessments
  • Achieve any required certifications outlined in the programme terms
  • Attend scheduled career coaching and support sessions
  • Actively engage with the job search process, including applying for suitable opportunities

Failure to meet these requirements may result in a learner no longer being eligible for certain programme benefits, including the Tuition Money-Back Guarantee, as set out in the programme Terms and Conditions.

The Cyber Security Analyst Bootcamp is typically completed in 12 to 16 weeks, depending on your schedule and learning pace. This time frame allows you to work through the core modules, prepare for CompTIA Security+, and complete the required hands-on labs.

The programme is delivered primarily through live, online instructor-led classes, supported by a smaller portion of self-paced learning. This structure ensures you receive real-time guidance and interaction while still having the flexibility to reinforce your learning independently through resources and labs.

Yes. The schedule is designed to accommodate learners who are working full time or part time. You can attend live classes according to the timetable and use recordings (where available) plus labs to catch up if needed.

If you miss a class, you can normally catch up via session recordings (where available) and by attending additional support sessions or office hours offered by instructors or the Student Support Team. The programme is structured similarly to other high quality job training programs online, with built in flexibility to help you maintain progress even with other commitments.

Many learners complete within the 12–16 week timeframe. If you need additional time, please speak with the Student Support Team to discuss extension options in line with your learning requirements and your planned career path in cybersecurity.

Fortray typically accepts credit/debit cards, bank transfers, direct debit, and secure online payment platforms. In some regions, we also work with finance providers to offer flexible payment options for job skills courses, making it easier to join IT career courses that include training and placement support.

Fortray often offers interest free instalment plans over a defined period, subject to eligibility and region. This allows you to spread the cost of a comprehensive course without paying everything upfront.

Many instalment plans are 0% interest, but terms can vary depending on the finance provider and your individual agreement. Your Career Advisor will explain any applicable fees or conditions during your enrolment process.

Generally, Fortray offers a 14 day cooling off period from the date of enrolment. Within this period, you may cancel and request a refund, subject to the programme's Terms & Conditions. This gives you peace of mind when committing to an IT training with job search support pathway.

If a payment is missed, you should contact Fortray's Finance & Credit Control Team immediately to discuss your situation. In some cases, access to course materials or the job search support may be temporarily paused until your account is brought back up to date.

Yes. Many learners choose to pay off their balance early. Early repayment may sometimes come with added benefits depending on your finance agreement.

For any queries about fees, instalments, or available finance options, please contact the Fortray Career Development Specialist Team or visit the Student Support section on the Fortray website. They can explain all financial aspects related to this and other courses in the UK.

You will follow a structured learning path that includes:

CompTIA ITF – IT fundamentals and core concepts

CompTIA A+ – end user and device support, troubleshooting

CompTIA Network+ – networking concepts, protocols, and infrastructure

Introduction to Cybersecurity – core security principles, threats, and controls

ISE2 CC – foundational cyber security certification content

CompTIA Security+ – core security skills required for cyber security jobs and SOC analyst roles. These modules are designed to give you both the foundational IT skills and the specialised security knowledge that UK employers look for in entry level cyber security careers.

The bootcamp is highly practical. You will work through real world labs and exercises that may include security event analysis, basic log review, vulnerability concepts, hardening configurations, and supporting incident response tasks. This hands on approach is critical for building confidence and demonstrating your skills to employers in interviews and technical assessments.

Mentorship is integrated throughout the programme. You will receive support from experienced cyber security professionals who will help you:

Understand complex security topics

Prepare for the CompTIA Security+ exam

Practise interview scenarios (behavioural and technical)

Plan your next steps, such as CISSP, CCSP, or CISM

This sustained guidance helps you build a focused, long term career in cyber security, rather than just completing a short course.

Yes—provided you meet the entry requirements (Diploma/Degree in IT or 1+ year IT experience), this bootcamp is well suited for a structured IT career switch into cyber security careers and SOC analyst roles. It combines fundamental IT training, cyber security-focused modules, certification preparation, and UK-focused career support services designed to help learners transition into cyber security roles.

The Cyber Security Analyst Bootcamp is delivered via instructor led live online classes, supported by digital learning resources and hands on labs. This gives you the flexibility of job training programs online while maintaining the interactivity and accountability of a live career training institute environment.

While it covers essential IT and networking fundamentals (ITF, A+, Network+), this bootcamp is focused on cyber security training and Job search support. It emphasises security concepts, threat analysis, Security+, and analyst level responsibilities, positioning you specifically for cyber security analyst and SOC roles rather than general IT support or purely networking focused positions.
